Ukhiya, July 7 (V7N) – A deeply disturbing incident has shaken the Monkhali area of Ukhiya upazila in Cox’s Bazar, where a father has allegedly murdered his three-year-old daughter. Local authorities confirmed the arrest of the suspect and have launched a formal investigation.
According to Ukhiya Police Station Officer-in-Charge, (OC) Mohammad Arif Hossain, the victim, identified as Kaniz Fatema (3 Year old), was reportedly killed by her father, Aman Ullah, in their home located in the Konarpara area of Ward 9 under the Jaliapalong Union. The tragic incident occurred on Saturday night, July 5, around 8:30 PM.
Family sources revealed that the mother had left the house for a short period to help with chores at a neighbor’s home. During her absence, Aman Ullah—allegedly under the influence of drugs—attacked the child. Upon returning, the mother found traces of blood, a lifeless goat, and could not immediately locate her daughter. When she alerted neighbors, they discovered the child’s body floating in a nearby canal. The father was later found hiding under a bed inside the house.
Local residents informed police, and the body was recovered with their assistance. The child’s body was sent to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy, confirmed by both Ukhiya Police and the Inani Police Outpost In-Charge, Sub-Inspector, (SI) Durjoy Sarkar.
Law enforcement has detained Aman Ullah on suspicion of murder. Preliminary findings suggest that he used an iron rod during the attack, although the exact cause of death will be confirmed following the autopsy.
According to police, the suspect has a known history of substance abuse, which may have contributed to the violent act. Investigators are treating the case as a domestic homicide and have stated that charges will be filed once the forensic results are obtained.
The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, with many demanding justice and stricter measures to address rising domestic violence and drug-related crimes in the region.
Police are continuing their investigation and have assured the public that the case will be pursued with full legal rigor.
