Washington, Feb 28, 2026 (V7N) – Iran has launched missile attacks targeting multiple countries hosting tens of thousands of United States troops across the Middle East, in response to a wave of US strikes, according to reports.

The major concentrations of American forces in the region fall under the US military’s Central Command (CENTCOM), with several key bases reportedly affected by the escalating tensions.

In Bahrain, the Naval Support Activity base, which hosts the US Navy’s Fifth Fleet headquarters, was reportedly targeted by an Iranian missile strike, with authorities saying the fleet’s service center came under attack.

In Iraq, explosions were reported near the US consulate in Arbil, the capital of the Kurdistan region. Kurdish security forces said coalition defenses intercepted multiple drones and missiles over the city, while pro-Iran armed groups threatened further attacks on US bases.

Kuwait, which hosts several US military installations including Camp Arifjan and Ali al-Salem Air Base, said its air defenses engaged incoming missiles. Reports also indicated damage to the runway of a Kuwaiti air base hosting foreign military personnel.

In Qatar, Al Udeid Air Base — a major hub for US air operations and forward components of CENTCOM — was among the locations reportedly targeted by Iranian missile strikes, according to Gulf authorities.

The United States has also maintained troops in Syria as part of operations against the Islamic State group, though a withdrawal process is underway. Syrian state media reported casualties after a missile strike in the country’s south.

Meanwhile, the United Arab Emirates said it intercepted two waves of Iranian missile attacks, adding that debris from the first wave killed a civilian in Abu Dhabi.
The developments highlight a sharp escalation in regional tensions, as Iran’s reported missile launches targeted strategic locations hosting US forces across the Middle East following the recent strikes.
