Tehran, Feb 28 (V7N) – The latest joint attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran have targeted critical security and leadership sites in Tehran, including areas linked to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, according to reports from Al Jazeera and Iranian media.

The semi-official Tasnim News Agency reported that seven missiles struck near the presidential palace and the Supreme Leader's compound. International media outlets, including the Associated Press, confirmed that some strikes hit locations near Khamenei’s office.

The current location of the 86-year-old Supreme Leader is not publicly known. Reuters reported that Khamenei has been moved to a secure location. Khamenei has held the position of Iran’s supreme leader since 1989, succeeding Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, and exercises ultimate authority over the government, military, judiciary, and serves as the country’s spiritual leader.

Known for his adversarial stance toward the West, Khamenei has repeatedly called the United States “Iran’s main enemy” and regards Israel as a top adversary. His control relies heavily on the loyalty of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Basij paramilitary forces.

Officials in Washington and Jerusalem have previously threatened to target Khamenei. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stated that striking Khamenei has not been ruled out, while former US President Donald Trump has issued repeated warnings, calling him “a very worried target” and hinting at potential regime change.

Al Jazeera journalist Ali Hashem said the strikes aimed to undermine Iran’s navy, missile facilities, and political leadership, though the full impact remains unclear. Analysts note that the attack raises serious questions about Iran’s internal security and the strategic calculations of the US-Israel coalition.

The situation remains tense, with further military and diplomatic developments expected in the coming hours.
