DHAKA, Feb 22, (V7N) - Rehan Asif Asad today formally assumed charge as Adviser to the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology and the Ministry of Science and Technology.
After taking charge, he exchanged views with heads of departments under the Posts and Telecommunications Division at the Secretariat and later held a meeting with officials at the ICT Division in Agargaon.
The adviser said initiatives have been taken to gradually introduce free or affordable internet services at important public places nationwide, in line with Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s election pledge to ensure internet access for all. He also outlined plans to strengthen cyber security, data management, and technological infrastructure.
Steps are underway to remove complexities in payment gateways to facilitate international transactions for freelancers and young entrepreneurs, he added.
Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Science and Technology Fakir Mahbub Anam, ICT Division Secretary Shish Haider Chowdhury, and Posts and Telecommunications Division Secretary Abdun Naser Khan were present at the meetings.
