Dhaka, Feb 21 (V7N) — Hamidur Rahman Azad, Assistant Secretary General of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, has said that building a democratic, inclusive and non-discriminatory state is not possible without upholding the spirit of July.
He made the remarks on Saturday while addressing a discussion meeting marking International Mother Language Day at the Diploma Engineers Institution in the capital.
Recognition of Language Movement Sacrifices
Azad said many individuals who made genuine sacrifices during the Language Movement for political reasons have yet to receive proper recognition, stressing the need to acknowledge their contributions.
Call to Establish Bangla Everywhere
Also present at the event, Mujibur Rahman, Naib-e-Amir of Jamaat-e-Islami, called for initiatives to ensure the use of the Bangla language in all sectors, including the courts.
Election Verdict and Political Cooperation
Speaking on the recent election, he said voters cast ballots on two major issues, but alleged that the ruling party disrespected the public mandate by taking oath on only one.
He emphasized that restoring justice in society would require joint efforts from both the government and opposition parties.
