Dhaka, Feb 21 (V7N) — Nazrul Islam Khan, political adviser to Prime Minister and a standing committee member of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), has emphasized that integrating the ideas and energy of young people is essential for the country’s progress.

Youth Must Be at the Center

Speaking at the Debate for Democracy program in the capital on Saturday, he said the nation must prioritize the thoughts, skills and talents of the youth.

According to him, while experience remains important, the country needs the dynamism of young people the most to move forward. He stressed that meaningful development would be possible only if youth perspectives are incorporated into policymaking and national initiatives.

Population as a Resource

Nazrul Islam Khan also highlighted the need to transform Bangladesh’s large population into skilled human resources. Referring to former president Ziaur Rahman, he recalled the idea that people are born not only with mouths to feed but also with hands to work.

He said that if the population is properly trained and utilized, Bangladesh could become one of the world’s prosperous nations.

Water Management Concerns

Pointing to climate challenges, he noted that many countries store rainwater to address shortages, while Bangladesh faces both floods and droughts. He suggested better water storage and management so excess water can be preserved during floods and used during dry periods.

The remarks underline growing calls within political circles to expand youth participation and adopt long-term resource management strategies as part of the country’s development agenda.
