Tangail, Feb 21 (V7N) — The government has launched a program to provide protein-rich foods such as milk, eggs, and chicken at affordable prices across the country. About 1 million people are expected to benefit from the initiative, according to Sultan Salahuddin Tuku, State Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Livestock and Food.
The program was inaugurated at Tangail Municipal Park on Saturday afternoon, where the State Minister spoke to journalists about the initiative.
Ensuring Food Access Ahead of Ramadan
Salahuddin Tuku said the initiative aims to make essential protein-rich food affordable for the general public during the holy month of Ramadan. “Market monitoring has been strengthened, and artificial crises or excessive price hikes will not be tolerated,” he said.
He also emphasized the government’s commitment to supporting the poultry industry, stating that necessary measures will be taken to ensure its sustainability by consulting with farmers and addressing their concerns.
Participation and Oversight
The event was attended by Deputy Commissioner Sharifa Haque, local administration officials, public representatives, and people from various walks of life.
This initiative is part of broader efforts by the government to stabilize prices and ensure food security during Ramadan.
