Teknaf, July 15 (V7N) - On the evening of July 15, the 64th Battalion of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), led by Lt. Col. Mohammad Jasim Uddin, carried out a raid on a suspected armed group’s hideout in the deep hills of Hnila Rangikhali, Teknaf. Acting on intelligence, the operation recovered a significant arsenal, officials confirmed.

The BGB patrol team surrounded the hideout after members of the group fled into the dense forest. A thorough search yielded the following arms and ammunition:

1 foreign-made revolver and 21 rounds of revolver ammunition, 1 long-barrel single-shot shotgun with 3 rounds of shell casing, 1 grenade launcher (LG gun) and 1 pistol-type “one shooter," 14 rounds of rifle ammunition, 1 long-barrel “krich,” and 2 long-barrel ramda-style firearms.

BGB Commander Lt. Col. Jasim Uddin explained that the region has long been a refuge for gangs involved in drug trafficking, robbery, abductions, and enforced disappearances. “This type of operation will continue in the future,” he said, asserting the BGB's ongoing commitment to clearing illegal arms and deterring criminal hideouts in the area.

All recovered weapons and ammunition have been handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station as evidence. A formal investigation is underway to identify and apprehend those responsible.

This raid follows a broader crackdown on illicit arms and drugs in Teknaf, including recent recoveries of foreign firearms and narcotics in joint operations by law enforcement agencies.
