New Delhi, Nov 11 (V7N) — A powerful car explosion occurred near the historic Lal kella in India’s capital, New Delhi, killing at least 13 people and injuring 24 others. Following the incident, high alert has been declared in Mumbai, Uttar Pradesh, Jaipur, and Uttarakhand, authorities reported. The information was confirmed by Indian news outlet NDTV on Monday.

According to NDTV, the explosion caused fires in several nearby vehicles, and bodies were seen scattered at the scene.

Delhi Police described the blast as extremely powerful. Police Commissioner Satish Golcha told NDTV that a total of 22 vehicles were damaged in the incident.

Deputy Chief Fire Officer A. Malik stated that seven fire units were immediately dispatched to the scene, and the fire has since been brought under control.

In response to the explosion, India’s central investigation agencies, including the National Investigation Agency (NIA) and the National Security Guard (NSG), have begun inquiries into the incident. Following the attack, security agencies have increased patrols and surveillance at key locations across the affected regions.

Authorities have urged the public to remain vigilant and avoid crowded areas while investigations continue. The cause of the blast has not yet been confirmed, and investigations are ongoing.
