Rajshahi, July 6 (V7N) – Members of RAB-5 have arrested five individuals from Kaliganj Bazar in Tanore upazila of Rajshahi on charges of selling illegal drugs under the guise of a pharmacy. The raid, conducted on Saturday evening (July 5) at around 7:15 PM, resulted in the seizure of 165 Tapentadol tablets, five mobile phones, five SIM cards, and Tk 41,300 in cash.
 
The arrested individuals have been identified as:
 
Md. Moyez Uddin (73), His son Md. Khokon (35), Md. Hafizur (35), Md. Ismail Hossain (26), Md. Charu Khan (29)
 
Moyez Uddin and Khokon are residents of Masinda village, while the other three are from Raitan Barsho village under Tanore upazila.
 
According to RAB’s preliminary investigation, the group had long been running a coordinated drug trade using a pharmacy as cover. They reportedly sourced Tapentadol, Phensedyl, and other narcotics from undisclosed suppliers and distributed them both wholesale and retail across Tanore and surrounding areas.
 
RAB officials stated that the operation was part of their ongoing nationwide efforts to combat drug trafficking and organized crime. Since its inception, RAB has conducted regular operations against drug dealers, armed criminals, and other offenders to ensure public safety.
 
A formal case has been filed against the five under the Narcotics Control Act at Tanore Police Station.
