ISTANBUL, Türkiye, July 04 (V7N) – A significant bilateral meeting took place at the headquarters of the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) in Istanbul, where Bangladesh's Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajib Bhuiyan met with TFF President Ibrahim Ethem Hacosmanolu. The discussion focused on enhancing cooperation in the development of football between the two nations.
During the meeting, Sports Adviser Bhuiyan highlighted the recent resurgence of football in Bangladesh, including the integration of players of Bangladeshi descent into the national team and ongoing efforts to establish a sustainable football ecosystem. Recognizing the strong fan base of the Turkish national team in Bangladesh, he proposed organizing a friendly match between the two countries to further strengthen sports-related ties.
TFF President Hacosmanolu warmly welcomed the proposal, stating that if all logistical arrangements proceed smoothly, a friendly match between the women’s national teams of Bangladesh and Türkiye could be organized as early as August. He also pledged comprehensive support for the development of Bangladesh’s football infrastructure, which includes technical assistance, training for coaches and referees, sports medicine expertise, and experience-sharing initiatives.
During the discussion, the Sports Adviser also commended Türkiye’s "bold and humanitarian leadership in the Muslim world," specifically acknowledging the role of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Adviser Bhuiyan extended an invitation to the TFF President to attend the upcoming Global Youth Summit, scheduled to be held in Bangladesh in September. Both parties expressed confidence that this meeting marks the beginning of a new chapter in Bangladesh-Türkiye sports cooperation, anticipating deeper and more productive engagements in the future.
