RANGAMATI, Nov 07 (V7N) – Bangladesh Cricket Board’s (BCB) Director of Age-Level Cricket Development, Asif Akbar, has expressed disappointment over the current state of sports infrastructure in Rangamati. He made the remarks on Thursday morning while exchanging views with local age-level cricketers at the Ching Hla Mong Mari Stadium in Rangamati.

During the session, Asif Akbar said, “Our young cricketers are still somewhat conservative in their approach. We aim to nurture them properly from the school level, and for that reason, special initiatives are being taken to develop cricket in schools.”

Highlighting the potential of the hill district, he added, “There is significant opportunity to produce talented age-level players in this region. However, due to a lack of proper infrastructure, these potentials remain untapped. Just as local girls have shown remarkable progress in football, we also want to involve women in cricket. With proper training and improved facilities, players from here could make it to the national team.”

Asif Akbar also discussed in detail the current condition, challenges, and future prospects of Rangamati’s sports sector with local athletes, organizers, and officials.

The meeting was attended by BCB District Councillor Abu Shadat Md. Sayem, District Sports Officer Harunur Rashid, members of the ad hoc committee of the District Sports Association, and several local sports organizers.
