Mongla, July 21 (V7N) – A festive mood has gripped Mongla as candidates enthusiastically collected nomination papers ahead of the Mongla Municipal BNP’s long-awaited biannual council. The nomination process was held on Monday from 1:00 PM to 10:00 PM at the local BNP office.
For the position of president, two prominent figures submitted their nominations: BNP convenor and former municipal mayor Md. Zulfikar Ali, and Md. Moazzem Hossain. For the position of general secretary, nomination papers were collected by BNP member secretary Md. Mahbubur Rahman Manik, joint convenors Emran Hossain and Khorshed Alam, and former Jubo Dal convenor Md. Mahmud Riyad.
Several candidates are contesting the post of organizing secretary, including Fakir Shahjahan, Talukder Nasir Uddin, Babul Sharif, Md. Mahbubur Rahman Tutul, Golam Nur Jony, Bablu Bhuiyan, Farukul Islam Manik, Shahidul Gazi, Shahidul Islam, and Md. Tajim Uddin.
The council organizing committee is being led by district BNP joint convenor Kamrul Islam Gora as the convener and Md. Abdul Razzak, president of Ward 4 BNP, as the member secretary.
Speaking about the upcoming council, Md. Zulfikar Ali stated that it is scheduled to take place on July 27 or 28 at the Chalna Bandar Senior Fazil Madrasa field. A total of 639 voters from all nine wards of the municipality will cast their ballots to elect the new leadership.
Ali emphasized that this will be the first council held in 20 years, contributing to the high enthusiasm and engagement among party leaders and activists.
