Dhaka, Nov 10 (V7N) — BNP Standing Committee Member Dr. Abdul Moin Khan has said that the main challenge for Bangladesh now is to build a truly democratic state through a free and fair election.
He made the remarks while addressing a program organized by the Intelligence Service (JASAS) in Gulshan on Monday (November 10) afternoon.
Dr. Moin Khan said that the July 36 movement was the result of an explosion of long-accumulated public anger, led by Tarique Rahman. “Giving credit only to the students would not be a proper analysis,” he added.
He further stated that August 5 did not happen overnight, but was the outcome of a long history of struggle. “About 43 political parties have been fighting against deprivation for years. In their movement for democracy, they have endured attacks, enforced disappearances, and torture,” he said.
Dr. Moin Khan also highlighted the significant role of JASAS in strengthening the nationalist movement over the years.
