Dhaka, Aug 13 (V7N) – Thousands of teachers from across Bangladesh gathered in front of the National Press Club on Wednesday, demanding the nationalization of all MPO-affiliated educational institutions. The rally, organized by the MPO-affiliated Education Nationalization Seekers Alliance, began at 10:30 am and is scheduled to continue until 2 pm, after which participants plan to march toward the Secretariat.

Teachers from 64 districts have joined the protest, braving heavy rain to press for their long-standing demands, which include nationalization of schools and an increase in various allowances. The demonstrators criticized the government for inaction despite repeated discussions, conferences, press briefings, human chains, and a 44-day sit-in at the same location.

The large gathering has caused traffic disruptions on major routes, including Paltan to the High Court and Shahbagh, affecting commuters and drivers.

MPO-affiliated teachers have been campaigning for years to secure nationalization and better benefits for their institutions, and today’s rally marks one of the largest demonstrations in recent times to press for these demands.
