Dhaka, Feb 28 (V7N) – Sheikh Rabiul Alam, Minister for Road Transport, Railways and Shipping Ministry, has announced plans to make footover bridges in Dhaka, which are currently unsuitable for traffic, fully usable in the near future.

The Minister made the statement while inaugurating a new footover bridge at New Market in the capital on Saturday afternoon.

He said the bridge was constructed to address the difficulties pedestrians face while crossing busy roads and is expected to ease public movement, particularly during the upcoming Eid celebrations. “Temporary shops must not be set up on the footover bridge under any circumstances,” he emphasized.

In addition, Sheikh Rabiul Alam mentioned that post-Eid initiatives will be undertaken to better control the footpaths in the New Market area to ensure smoother pedestrian and traffic flow.
