Cairo, Aug 11 (V7N) – The Arab League has strongly condemned Israel’s plan to occupy the entire Gaza Strip, calling it a direct aggression against all Arab states and a serious threat to regional security and stability.
At an emergency meeting of the League’s permanent representatives held in Cairo on Sunday, members expressed deep concern over the ongoing devastation in Gaza, describing Israel’s actions as a policy of genocide and starvation against the Palestinian people.
In a statement after the meeting, the Arab League urged the international community to exert pressure on Israel to halt its military operations and end the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
The Turkish news agency Anadolu reported that the League called Israel’s plan a blatant threat to peace in the region and emphasized the urgency of international intervention.
Israel’s security cabinet approved Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s plan to occupy Gaza City last Friday, drawing widespread criticism from governments and human rights organizations worldwide.
