New Delhi, Nov 08 (V7N) — Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has said that India does not want a strained relationship with Bangladesh and urged Professor Muhammad Yunus, Chief Advisor to Bangladesh’s interim government, to be “careful in what he says.”
Singh made the remarks in an exclusive interview with Rahul Joshi, Editor-in-Chief of India’s Network18 Group, as reported by First Post on Friday.
Reiterating India’s desire for friendly ties with Dhaka, Singh stated, “New Delhi does not want a tense relationship with Bangladesh. Professor Yunus should be careful about what he says.” He added that while India is “capable of meeting any challenge,” its primary goal remains “to maintain good relations with our neighbours.”
According to the First Post report, bilateral tensions emerged following the fall of Sheikh Hasina’s government last year. After Hasina’s departure, Nobel laureate Professor Yunus assumed the role of Chief Advisor to the interim administration. Sheikh Hasina is currently residing in India.
