DHAKA, July 04 (V7N) – Bangladesh continues to experience a concerning rise in dengue fever cases as 204 new patients were hospitalized across the country in the 24 hours leading up to this morning. This brings the total number of dengue cases for 2025 to 11,660. The cumulative death toll from the mosquito-borne disease remains at 45 this year, with no new fatalities reported in the last 24 hours.

According to a press release issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), the new hospitalizations were distributed across various divisions:

Mymensingh admitted 5 patients.

Rajshahi division reported 10 new cases.

In positive news, 254 patients were discharged from different hospitals across the country during the same 24-hour period after recovering.

The current surge in cases comes as Bangladesh is in its traditional dengue season, which typically runs from June to September. The country has faced severe dengue outbreaks in recent years, with a total of 101,214 cases and 575 deaths reported in 2024. The situation was even more dire in 2023, which recorded 1,705 deaths and 321,179 cases, making it the deadliest year on record for dengue in Bangladesh. Public health experts have noted that dengue outbreaks have been more geographically widespread across the country this year, unlike previous years when they were largely concentrated in Dhaka.
