Mongla, July 30 (V7N) – At the biennial council meeting of BNP’s Mongla municipal unit, National Executive Committee Executive Organiser (Khulna Division) Anindya Islam Amit asserted that while building fascism’s “grave” may appear enticing, it must not jeopardize the democratic process, especially elections. He emphasized that to truly vanquish fascism, democracy must be firmly established across all sectors of society.

Amit criticized the use of religious identity as a political tool. He warned against parties exploiting both majority and minority faith communities—whether Muslims in mosques or Hindus in temples and ashrams—for political gain. "Politics should take place on the streets, not within places of worship," he declared.

Addressing supporters, Amit stated, “We engage in politics for ordinary people. We cannot deliver tickets to heaven or paradise—but we can alleviate your suffering, stand by you in hardship. That is BNP’s politics, and we wish to remain with you in that cause. Our leader, Tarique Rahman, also always stands with you.”

The remarks were delivered during a speech presided over by local coordinator Mohammad Zulfikar Ali at the Fazil Madrasa ground in Mongla town. Prominent attendees included BNP’s co-organiser (Khulna Division) Joyonto Kumar Kundu, Research Secretary Agronomist Shamiur Rahman Shamim, member Sheikh Wahiduzzaman Dipu, Khulna Metropolitan BNP President Advocate Shafiqul Islam Mona, Bagherhat District Coordinator M. A. Salam, Secretary Mozaffor Rahman Alam, Deputy Organiser Khadem Niamul Nasir Alap, Lion Dr. Sheikh Faridul Islam, member Khan Monirul Islam, Barrister Sheikh Mohammad Zakir Hossain, Abdul Halim Khokon, Mongla Municipal BNP Secretary Mahbubur Rahman Manik, Mongla Upazila President A. Mannan Howlader, and General Secretary Abu Hossain Poni.

The first session of the council concluded with a vote, in which 639 delegates participated. Candidates competed for nine organisational secretary positions, four general secretary posts, and two president roles. The voting and counting will conclude tonight, with results to be announced afterward.
