Ukhiya, July 9 (V7N) – A media delegation from the Spanish Embassy in Dhaka visited the Rohingya refugee camps in Ukhiya on July 9, 2025, to inspect educational and training facilities funded by UNHCR and UNICEF.
The delegation, which arrived at 10:30 AM, toured several centers that provide educational services for the refugees. The team, consisting of Jenny Torres Castro (Journalist), Álvaro Rodríguez de la Rúa (Videographer), Samuel Sánchez Díaz (Photographer), and Juan Antonio Aunion Borrégüero (Reporter), first visited the Training and Production Center at Camp-2 East, which is managed by the NGO Forum under UNHCR’s funding.
Later, at 11:00 AM, they visited Camp-11, where they observed the Education and Teacher Training Center supported by UNICEF. The delegation also visited various learning centers, including Rose Learning Center, Shikhon Learning Center, and Marine Learning Center, engaging with both students and staff.
The delegation concluded their visit by touring the Sun Learning Center in Camp-18 at 12:00 PM, where they discussed the ongoing budgetary challenges impacting the continuation of educational programs. The Spanish team acknowledged that funding shortages were a key issue hindering educational activities in the camps.
The visit ended at 1:45 PM, with the delegation planning to prepare a report addressing these issues and proposing solutions for future funding allocation.
