TANGAIL, Feb 16, (V7N) – Former Awami League MP from Tangail-5 (Sadar) constituency, Md. Chanowar Hossain (54), has been arrested in connection with an attack on an anti-discrimination protest in Dhaka.

A special operation by Bhatara Police Station of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) led to the arrest at 11:30 PM on Saturday (Feb 15) from house number 2501, Road No. 10, Block L, Bashundhara Residential Area.

Two other Awami League leaders were also arrested in the same case.
The arrests were confirmed by a DMP press release on Sunday (Feb 16).
The accused have been sent to the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court.

Following the news of Chanowar Hossain’s arrest, people in various parts of Tangail city began distributing sweets and celebrating.
