Teknaf, Nov 17 (V7N) – A coordinated special operation across multiple Rohingya camps in Teknaf led to the arrest of twelve individuals, including armed robbers and convicted criminals. Security forces also recovered a foreign-made pistol, a magazine and two rounds of ammunition during the raid. The arrests took place between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. on Monday across the Nayapara, Jadimura and Leda camps.

Among those detained, three were identified as armed robbers, two were convicted criminals and seven were involved in illegal gambling. Authorities confirmed that one of the convicted offenders had already completed sentencing, while legal actions against the remaining six are ongoing.

The arrested individuals include Mohammad Hasan, 25, Md Nur Kalam, 26, and Abdur Razzak, 28, identified as members of armed groups; convicted individuals Mohammad Elias, 32, Md Rezaul Karim, 31, and Mohammad Rofiq, 26; and gamblers Abdullah Fahat, 24, Md Saber, 25, Hamid Hossain, 47, Hamid Hossain, 42, Md Taher, 23, and Abdur Rahman, 26.

All detainees were handed over to Teknaf Model Police Station later in the evening. Mohammad Kawsar Sikder, Commanding Officer of the 16th Armed Police Battalion and Additional DIG, confirmed the arrests and the recovery of weapons. He stated that the joint operation was part of continued efforts to curb criminal activity within the Rohingya camps.
