DHAKA, Feb 26,  (V7N) - A moderate earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale struck different parts of Bangladesh, including the capital, on Thursday night, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).

The tremor occurred at 10:51:49 pm (BST), with its epicentre located in Myanmar, approximately 462 kilometres east of the BMD seismic centre in Agargaon, Dhaka, said BMD Assistant Meteorologist Farzana Sultana.

The quake was felt in various regions across the country, including Dhaka city, but was experienced more intensely in Cox’s Bazar and nearby areas.

No immediate reports of damage or casualties were received, the department confirmed.
