Tehran, Mar 04 (V7N) — Iranian authorities have completed the burial of 165 students and staff who were killed in a school attack in Minab, located in southern Iran’s Hormozgan Province. The incident occurred during what Tehran described as a joint US-Israeli strike on Saturday (February 28).
Officials said the attack on the educational institution marked the deadliest single incident since the start of the ongoing military campaign against Iran.
However, the Israeli military said it was not aware of any Israeli or US strikes carried out in the Minab area. Israel has previously denied responsibility for several deadly incidents involving civilians during conflicts in the region, though some were later described by the Israel Defense Forces as unintentional.
The United Nations strongly condemned the Minab attack. Under international humanitarian law, deliberately targeting schools, hospitals, or other civilian facilities is considered a war crime.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghai accused the United States and Israel of continuing indiscriminate attacks across the country.
“They are continuing to attack residential areas indiscriminately—hospitals, schools, Red Crescent facilities, and cultural monuments; nothing is spared,” Baghai said on Monday.
The incident has intensified international concern over civilian casualties and the humanitarian impact of the escalating conflict in the region.
