SAN FRANCISCO, July 29 (V7N) – A Delta Air Lines pilot, identified as 34-year-old Rustom Bhagwagar, was arrested and taken into custody after landing at San Francisco International Airport, facing serious criminal charges related to sexual assault of a minor.
Bhagwagar was booked on five counts of oral copulation with a child under ten years of age, according to a statement from the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office, which was provided to USA TODAY on July 28. The arrest followed an ongoing investigation initiated by a report of "sex crimes against a child" made in April.
County records indicate that Bhagwagar was arrested on July 26 and is currently being detained on $5 million bail. As of Monday afternoon, July 28, it was not confirmed whether he had legal representation, and no initial court date was listed in public court records.
Delta Air Lines has not issued a statement regarding the arrest. The case remains under investigation as authorities work to gather more evidence and determine the next steps in the legal proceedings.
