Rangamati, July 29 (V7N) – An intense army operation and exchange of fire took place at a United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) hideout in the remote hilly region of Baghaihat, Rangamati early Tuesday morning.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) confirmed the development, stating that AK-47 assault rifles, other firearms, and a cache of ammunition were recovered during the ongoing operation.

According to ISPR, the operation is still underway, and full details, including the number of casualties or arrests, will be disclosed after its completion.

The incident marks another escalation in the long-running conflict between security forces and armed groups in the Chittagong Hill Tracts, where the UPDF has been accused of extortion, violence, and operating illegal armed camps.

More updates are expected following the conclusion of the military operation.
