Rangamati, July 30 (V7N) - On the night of July 29, a special team from the Rangamati District Ansar Battalion arrested a man impersonating a member of the Ansar force. The suspect, identified as Rubel Chakma (25), posed in uniform and posted fraudulent job-offer messages on Facebook, promising Ansar positions to unsuspecting individuals in exchange for large sums of money.

The operation was confirmed by District Commander Md. Anowar Hossain (BPM), who disclosed that Rubel was detained around 10:00 p.m. during a covert mission led by Circle Adjutant Anowar Zahed in Amanatbagh area, based on intelligence inputs.

Rubel Chakma, a resident of Hatiarchar village in Bhuishanchhara Union, Barkal Upazila, had allegedly attracted at least three job-seeking victims from Rangamati town: Shantu Chakma, Biplon Chakma, and Bachchumoni Chakma. They collectively paid him Tk 5 lakh 50 thousands, but no jobs were provided. Upon realizing the scam, the victims alerted relevant authorities.

After nearly a month of surveillance, law enforcement tracked Rubel to his location and arrested him without incident. Investigative authorities confirmed that formal charges have been initiated and legal proceedings are underway.

“This type of impersonation undermines public trust in security institutions,” stated the district commander, who emphasized the ongoing efforts to bring such fraudsters to justice and protect vulnerable job seekers.
