Cox’s Bazar, July 28 (V7N) — In a sweeping series of anti-drug operations on Monday, Bangladeshi law enforcement agencies recovered over 70,000 yaba pills, illegal firearms, police gear, and trafficking vehicles from multiple locations in Teknaf and Ukhiya.
Navy-RAB Joint Raid Uncovers Yaba, Weapons, Police Equipment
A high-impact joint operation by the Bangladesh Navy’s Teknaf Contingent and RAB-15 uncovered 10,000 yaba tablets, a locally made firearm, a Chinese axe, live ammunition, and Armed Police Battalion gear in the Jhimgkhali, Minabazar, and Tailapara areas of Teknaf. The raid, conducted in the presence of local officials, targeted the home of Md. Saleh, a suspected long-time trafficker.
50,000 Yaba Pills Found Hidden in Car Gas Cylinder in Ukhiya
Ukhiya police arrested three traffickers with 50,000 yaba pills concealed inside a fake gas cylinder in a private car. The operation took place in West Kutupalong around 10:30 a.m. The arrestees, all in their 20s, used a petrol-driven vehicle modified with a false cylinder to avoid detection. A case has been filed under the Narcotics Control Act.
Teknaf Police Recover 12,000 Yaba Pills, Arrest Three in Early Morning Raid
Earlier in the day, Teknaf police recovered 12,000 yaba tablets, TK 23,000 in cash, and an auto-rickshaw used for smuggling. The suspects were arrested in Baharchhara and Hnila. Police say two cases have been registered, and investigations are ongoing.
Authorities Vow to Sustain Coastal Crackdown
Officials confirmed that all seized items are being processed for legal action and that such high-risk coastal operations will continue. The Navy, RAB, and local police forces have ramped up joint efforts to dismantle cross-border drug trafficking networks operating from the Myanmar border region.
