Khagrachhari, Sept 23 (V7N) – A discussion meeting with leaders of the Hindu community was held in Khagrachhari on Monday with the aim of ensuring the peaceful and harmonious celebration of Durga Puja, the largest annual festival for Sanatan devotees.
The program was organized by the Khagrachhari District BNP at the party’s district office in the morning. The meeting was presided over by Senior Vice President of the district BNP, Probin Chandra Chakma. Central BNP Joint Secretary for Employment Affairs and District BNP President, former MP Wadud Bhuiyan, joined virtually as the chief guest.
In his remarks, Bhuiyan emphasized that people of all faiths in the hill tracts have historically celebrated festivals together in harmony. He warned, however, that certain groups are attempting to disrupt communal unity in the region. “We in the BNP remain committed to maintaining peace and communal harmony in the hills and to building a peaceful and non-communal society,” he said, noting that the meeting was part of that broader effort.
District BNP General Secretary M. N. Abshar addressed the gathering as the chief speaker. Special guests included District BNP Joint Secretaries Mosharraf Hossain and Animesh Chakma Rinku, Organizational Secretaries Abdur Raza and Abu Taleb, and Assistant Religious Affairs Secretary Ashok Majumder.
Leaders from the Hindu community also participated, including Ashish Bhattacharya, acting president of Khagrachhari Central Laxmi Narayan Temple, Nirmal Dev, general secretary of the temple, Sadhan Dey, president of the Khagrachhari Rasa Mahotsav Committee, and Sadhan Chandra Pal, general secretary of Khagrachhari Central Kali Temple, among others.
The participants pledged to work together to uphold peace, communal harmony, and the spirit of unity during the upcoming Durga Puja celebrations.
