Dhaka, Sep 22 (V7N) – Several dismissed officers and employees of Biman Bangladesh Airlines have started a sit-in protest in front of Kurmitola Balaka Bhaban in the capital, demanding their reinstatement.

The protest began on Monday morning, with participants standing in front of the building, insisting that the authorities take immediate action to restore their jobs.

The protesters said that on August 12 last year, the previous Awami League government issued a notification instructing that all dismissed officers and employees of Biman be reinstated within 15 days to eliminate discrimination. However, despite the passage of over a year, most of the cases remain unresolved. Some employees were reinstated under the same notification, but many have yet to receive any decision.

They further alleged that during the previous government, numerous officers and employees lost their jobs due to retaliatory actions by the Armed Police Battalion (APBN). Even though several were convicted by the Airport Magistrate in lower courts and later acquitted by the High Court, they have still not been reinstated.

The protesters warned that their agitation will continue until their demands are met.
