Dhaka, July 1 (V7N) — Two crude bombs reportedly exploded near the central office of Ganosamhati Andolon in Dhaka’s Hatirpool area on Monday night, prompting an immediate protest by the party.

The incident occurred around 8:00 PM, according to a press release issued by Ganosamhati Andolon. In response, leaders and activists of the organization staged a protest march from their Hatirpool office through the local kitchen market to Katabon intersection.

Abul Hasan Rubel, Executive Coordinator of Ganosamhati Andolon, condemned the attack and said it was a deliberate attempt to intimidate them ahead of the anniversary of the July Uprising. “On the eve of the July Uprising’s anniversary, these blasts are an attempt by anti-people forces to scare us. But the people’s movement will not be shaken,” he said. “The fallen Awami League is still conspiring to destroy public aspirations, and this explosion is part of that pattern.”

Rubel criticized the interim government's lack of visible progress in improving law and order. He demanded the immediate arrest and trial of those involved in the incident, emphasizing that such attacks are intended to instill fear and disrupt democratic activism.

The protest rally was attended by several prominent figures from the party and its student wing, including Political Council member Taslima Akhter, Editorial Board members Bachchu Bhuiyan and Dipak Kumar Roy, Central Committee members Alif Dewan and Aparajita Chand, Student Federation General Secretary Saikat Arif, and Dhaka Metropolitan Student Federation President Alamin Rahman.

No injuries were reported, and law enforcement authorities have yet to issue an official statement regarding the blasts.
