Dhaka, August 5 (V7N) – Bangladesh is set to observe the anniversary of the historic mass student and public uprising of August 5, marking the day as "People’s Uprising Day" with a series of national programs, including the long-awaited declaration of the "July Proclamation" – a political document seen as a landmark in the country’s transitional journey.

On Tuesday, at 5 PM local time, Interim Government Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus is scheduled to read the July Proclamation from the South Plaza of the National Parliament. The event will be attended by representatives and allied factions of the uprising, standing alongside the chief adviser as a sign of unity.

State broadcaster Bangladesh Television will air the proceedings live.

The July Proclamation is expected to outline the political roadmap following the mass uprising, which brought sweeping changes to Bangladesh’s power structure. It serves both as a reflection of public aspirations and a framework for the interim government’s commitments in the months ahead.

Political observers say the day's events, particularly the proclamation, are symbolic of the shift in political power and public accountability that began with last year’s nationwide protests, culminating in the resignation of the previous administration.

The government and organizing bodies have called on citizens to join in commemorating the sacrifices made during the uprising and to renew their commitment to democratic reform.
