Dhaka, July 2 (V7N) — Twenty-eight Bangladeshi nationals who had been stranded in Iran during the recent Iran-Israel conflict have safely returned home. The returnees, hailing from various districts across Bangladesh, arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka on Tuesday via connecting flights through Dubai and Pakistan.

According to Mohammad Shahed Hossain, Assistant Director at the Expatriate Welfare Desk (BMET) at the airport, the repatriation was made possible through the coordinated efforts of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Bangladesh Embassy in Tehran.

Airport officials stated that the individuals became trapped in Tehran after full-scale hostilities broke out between Iran and Israel on June 13. The conflict saw Israel launch widespread attacks on Iran’s military, nuclear, and civilian infrastructure. Following weeks of uncertainty, a ceasefire brokered by the United States allowed safe travel routes to reopen.

The returnees expressed relief upon arriving home, some sharing their traumatic experiences of being caught in a war zone. Government officials assured continued support for Bangladeshis facing crises abroad.
