Washington, Mar 19 (V7N) – US President Donald Trump does not want any new attacks on Iran’s energy infrastructure at this time, according to US officials cited by The Wall Street Journal.
The report said Israel carried out a strike on one of Iran’s largest gas fields on Wednesday. Amid concerns that Iran could disrupt global oil flows by blocking the strategically vital Strait of Hormuz, Trump initially supported the attack as a way to send a strong message to Tehran.
However, after that objective was achieved, the US president has taken a more cautious stance, opposing further strikes on Iran’s energy facilities for the time being.
Officials noted that Trump’s position is not final and could change depending on developments in the region.
