Lyon, Feb 22 (V7N) — Thousands of demonstrators took to the streets of Lyon in France on Saturday to protest the killing of right-wing political activist Quentin Derank.

According to French authorities, more than 3,000 people participated in the protest march. Demonstrators moved through several major streets of the city, chanting slogans and carrying banners demanding justice.

At one stage, protesters marched to the location where Derank was fatally beaten. They gathered in front of a temporary memorial set up at the site and paid tribute to the slain activist. Police maintained a high level of security throughout the demonstration.

Law enforcement officials said at least seven suspects have so far been arrested in connection with the killing. Authorities confirmed that an investigation is ongoing.
