Habiganj, July 15 (V7N) - BNP veteran and former Habiganj district president Syed Mohammad Faisal stated on Tuesday that recent conspiracies against the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) will not succeed, calling them “baseless and politically motivated.” He made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a scholarship award ceremony at Pilot High School field in Madhabpur upazila on July 15 at 10:30 a.m.

Faisal emphasized that for the past 16 years, thousands of BNP activists have struggled against what he described as a “fallen fascist regime” led by the Awami League, with many sacrificing their lives, particularly during the July movement. “This relentless fight for democracy has led to the collapse of an oppressive government,” he said.

Addressing recent attempts to link BNP with the murder of Sohag at Dhaka's Mitford Hospital, Faisal dismissed the accusations as “malicious propaganda aimed at undermining a democratic and election-oriented party.” He added, “A certain vested group is working to discredit the contributions of one of the most popular political parties in the country. These conspiracies will bring no results.”

The event, presided over by educator Saiful Islam, also featured speeches from:

Former Upazila Chairman Syed Mohammad Shahjahan, Managing Director of Sayham Cotton Mills Ltd, Engineer Syed Mohammad Ishtiaq, Former Municipal Mayor Habibur Rahman Manik, Upazila BNP Vice President and UP Chairman Md. Parvez Hossain Chowdhury, BNP Organizing Secretary Mahbubur Rahman Sohag, Former Vice Chairman Abdul Aziz, Municipal BNP President Md. Golap Khan, and Municipal BNP General Secretary Alauddin Al Rony.

During the event, it was announced that scholarships worth approximately Tk 9 lakh were awarded to 450 underprivileged and meritorious students from nine schools and madrasas in the upazila. This annual initiative—based on academic merit and humanitarian considerations—has played a significant role in motivating students and fostering a positive attitude towards education across Madhabpur.

Faisal praised the program as a powerful example of community-driven support for education and pledged continued assistance for students in need.
