NARSINGDI, July 30 (V7N) – Nahid Islam, Convener of the National Citizen Party (NCP), today alleged that certain political parties are conspiring to remove two student representatives of the July Uprising, Mahfuz Alam and Asif Mahmud Bhuiyan Sajib, from the interim government.

Speaking at an NCP rally in Narsingdi, which followed a procession from Bhelanagar to the Narsingdi Municipality intersection, Nahid Islam emphasized, "Although Mahfuz Alam and Asif Mahmud Bhuiyan Sajib are not members of the NCP, they are student representatives of the July Movement. They are working to realize the aspirations of July. But a plot is underway to remove them from the government." Mahfuz Alam currently serves as the Adviser for Information and Broadcasting, while Asif Mahmud Bhuiyan Sajib is the Adviser for Youth and Sports and for Local Government, Rural Development, and Co-operatives in the interim government. Both were key coordinators of the Students Against Discrimination, which spearheaded the July Uprising.

Nahid Islam asserted the NCP's demand to remove what he termed "the fascist Awami President Chuppu." This appears to be a reference to former President Mohammed Shahabuddin, who was affiliated with the Awami League. "We were not allowed to remove the fascist Awami President Chuppu. But we are united on this demand. We will return to the streets, and we will not stop until our demands are met," he declared.

He further alleged a "series of conspiracies" against the party over the past year, stating that "The activities of the July movement were obstructed repeatedly. We weren’t allowed to frame a new constitution for a new Bangladesh. Still, we have remained silent and steadfast."

Referring to ongoing criminal activities, Nahid Islam stated, "After the July uprising against the Awami League’s, we were once again forced to take to the streets. In Narsingdi, land grabbing and extortion is continuing, but we will drive out the culprits who are responsible for those misdeeds."

Expressing confidence in the NCP's growing public support, he said, "Over the past five months, people across the country have shown overwhelming support to NCP. They will ensure our victory in the upcoming elections." The National Citizen Party (NCP) was officially established on February 28, 2025, emerging from the student-led movement "Students Against Discrimination" and the National Citizen Committee, both instrumental in the political transformation that led to the July Uprising.
