Pabna, June 17 (V7N)– Three students from Pabna University of Science and Technology (PUST) have brought international recognition to their institution by qualifying for the final round of a prestigious Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based global innovation competition in Malaysia.

The students, Mahmudul Hasan Bappy, Naimur Rahman, and Colonel Ahmed Rahul, all fourth-year students in PUST's Electrical, Electronic, and Communication Engineering Department, were selected from over a thousand university participants worldwide. The grand finale of the competition is set to take place on August 23 and 24 at Kebangsaan University in Malaysia.

The competition, IEEE YESIS 12-2025 (Youth Endeavours For Social Innovation Using Sustainable Technology), is an international innovation challenge that encourages young innovators from various countries to develop technology-driven, sustainable solutions for social problems.

The PUST team's submitted project, 'Intelligence Safeguard,' is an AI-based smart detection and emergency response system. Their innovative concept received commendation from the judges, earning them a spot in a special category of the finals. Assistant Professor Liton Chandra Paul from the same department supervised the project.

Assistant Professor Liton Chandra Paul explained the project's capabilities: "PUST's 'Intelligence Safeguard' project is a state-of-the-art AI-based smart crime detection and emergency response system. It can help prevent crime by tracking human voices, images, videos, and vehicle license plates. This advanced technology can serve as a valuable tool for law enforcement agencies, enabling them to instantly identify issues and take swift action. If this project's idea is implemented, it will lead to a reduction in crime rates and ensure citizen safety by allowing law enforcement to respond quickly."

The university's leadership has extended their congratulations to the three accomplished students. PUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. S.M. Abdul-Awal, Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Nazrul Islam, and Treasurer Professor Dr. Shamim Ahsan jointly praised the achievement. In a statement, they said, "This accomplishment by our students has elevated the university's prestige and proven that our students possess world-class talent and skills. Their journey on the international stage opens new horizons for our students' innovation and achievements. We believe their success will inspire all students."
