FEB 12 (V7N) - Unofficial results from Cox’s Bazar-4 constituency show BNP candidate Shahjahan Chowdhury (Sheaf of Paddy symbol) securing victory by a narrow margin.
Local sources reported that in one municipality and 11 unions, Chowdhury received 122,083 votes. His nearest rival, Jamaat-e-Islami’s Nur Ahmad Anwari (Scales symbol), obtained 118,734 votes. After postal ballots were added, Chowdhury’s final margin stood at 2,924 votes.
This marks another parliamentary win for Shahjahan Chowdhury, who has previously been elected four times and served as a Whip as well as chairman of the parliamentary standing committees on Relief and Public Works.
News of his victory sparked celebrations among BNP supporters in Cox’s Bazar-4, with jubilant processions reported across the constituency.
