RAJSHAHI, March 2, (V7N) - A woman was robbed at knifepoint in Rajshahi city early Monday morning under the Bhadra Flyover. The victim, Ripa Begum, said she had returned from Dhaka by night bus with her passport, visa, and documents needed to travel to Saudi Arabia.
Around 3 am, she hired a rickshaw to go home to Dayarapara. On reaching Bhadra flyover in Chandrima police station area, the rickshaw puller suddenly stopped, held a knife to her throat, and fled with her belongings. Ripa said she handed over her money, passport, and visa out of fear for her life.
Later, patrolling police found her crying at the scene. They recovered her cloth bag nearby, but the stolen passport, visa, and cash were missing. Ripa said, “I will not go to Saudi Arabia again unless I get my passport and visa back. I seek cooperation from the administration.”
Police confirmed that she will file a complaint and that efforts are underway to identify and arrest the rickshaw puller.
The incident has raised concern about safety for women travelers in Rajshahi, especially during late-night hours.
