Dhaka, Mar 07 (V7N) – Many filling stations in Dhaka and other cities are struggling to supply petrol, octane, and diesel, causing inconvenience for motorists and riders. Motorbike users are reportedly going from one station to another in search of fuel, while some stations are unable to meet the stipulated supply quantities.
At a station in Agargaon Taltala, Dhaka, sales were halted since Friday night due to depleted stock. The station manager said, “Three days’ worth of oil was sold out in one day. Sales will start as soon as new stock arrives.”
Similar disruptions have been reported in Chittagong, where some stations have closed after running out of fuel, while others are rationing supply. Goods and passenger vehicles are receiving 50 to 60 liters per visit to ensure daily distribution.
In Feni, motorbike riders have been limited to two liters of petrol or octane since morning, with signs reading “Diesel is out” at some stations. The president of the district’s filling station owners’ association said the district has received only half of the 2.5 lakh liters required, causing a crisis that began Friday.
The situation in Rajshahi is also tense, with high demand from bikers. Many are struggling to find fuel as some stations have implemented rationing and even blocked access to control distribution.
The shortages come amid rising concerns over fuel supply management, and authorities are reportedly working to normalize distribution as soon as possible.
