Dhaka, Dec 14 (V7N) — The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has summoned the Indian High Commissioner to convey Bangladesh’s concerns regarding the provocative statements of fugitive Awami League members and the upcoming national elections.
In a press release on Sunday, the ministry stated that fugitive Awami League members residing in India are allegedly involved in anti-Bangladesh activities. The Indian government has been requested to take effective measures to immediately stop these criminal activities.
Bangladesh also sought India’s cooperation to prevent the suspects involved in the assassination attempt on Sharif Osman Hadi from fleeing to India and urged the speedy extradition of Sheikh Hasina and Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal. The press release emphasized that as a neighboring country, India is expected to stand by the people of Bangladesh.
Responding, the Indian High Commissioner said that India expects peaceful elections in Bangladesh and is ready to provide full cooperation in ensuring this.
