Dhaka, Nov 16 (V7N) – Economic Advisor Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed has said that Bangladesh’s economy is showing positive signs, with reserves, remittances, and exports on the rise. He noted that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has recognized the improving economic situation.
Dr. Ahmed made the remarks at the DRU Best Reporting Award ceremony held at the International Mother Language Institute in Dhaka on Sunday. He said, “Inflation has dropped from 14 percent to 8 percent. So, those who claim nothing has changed are not correct. We must solve our problems ourselves.” He also emphasized that social development is as important as economic growth.
The ceremony, organized by Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU), honored reporters from print, TV, and online media for their best reports in various categories. Jamuna Television’s senior reporter Alamgir Hossain received the award for the best report in the TV category.
Dr. Ahmed’s comments reflect the government’s assessment that economic indicators are improving and that continued effort is needed to maintain progress.
