Dhaka, Sep 24 (V7N) – In order to ensure the health and livability of Dhaka, the Capital Development Authority (RAJUK) must finalize the city’s building code by next November, said Environment Advisor Syeda Rizwana Hasan.
She made the remarks at a meeting on the installation of septic tanks and sewage treatment plants (STPs) held at a hotel in the capital on Wednesday afternoon.
The advisor emphasized that waste and sewage management in Dhaka is legally mandatory and must be implemented step by step. She called on RAJUK and WASA to take responsibility for enforcing these measures.
Regarding the city’s rivers, including the Buriganga, she said, “Protecting the rivers around Dhaka is difficult but not impossible. Everyone must take initiative to clean the canals connected to the river.”
