DHAKA, March 25, (V7N) — The Ministry of Shipping has formed a six‑member investigation committee to probe the incident in which a passenger bus plunged into the Padma River while boarding a ferry at the Daulatdia Ferry Ghat in Rajbari, resulting in multiple casualties.
According to a PID handout, the committee will determine the actual cause of the accident and identify those responsible.
Additional Secretary Md. Muhidul Islam will serve as the convener of the committee. The other members include representatives from the Deputy Commissioner of Rajbari, River Police, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA), Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC), and the Fire Service and Civil Defence Department.
The committee has been instructed to submit its report within the next three working days.
Based on the findings, appropriate action will be taken against those responsible, and necessary measures will be adopted to prevent similar incidents in the future, the handout said.
