Dhaka, Sep 23 (V7N) – The Procurement Committee has approved the purchase of 40,000 body cameras for the upcoming National Assembly elections, with an estimated cost of 4 billion taka, Finance Advisor Dr. Saleh Uddin Ahmed said on Tuesday.

He stated that the body cameras will be purchased through UNDP using government funds to ensure transparency and high quality.

“The allocation required for the elections will not be reduced,” the Finance Advisor added. In the same meeting of the Advisory Council Committee on Government Procurement at the Secretariat, approvals were also given for the improvement of the Shah Amanat Airport runway in Chittagong and the modernization of the control tower at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.

In addition, the committee approved proposals to import fertilizers for the upcoming season, including 35,000 tons of MOP from Russia, 30,000 tons of urea from Saudi Arabia, and 30,000 tons of urea from Kafco.

Finance Advisor Saleh Uddin Ahmed also noted that Bangladesh Bank has purchased some dollars for emergency use.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission will publish the final voter list on November 18, which will include new voters who turn 18 by October 31.
