Dhaka, Sep 16 (V7N) – Election Commission (EC) Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed has urged people to remain calm over dissatisfaction regarding the Faridpur-2 and Faridpur-4 constituencies, emphasizing that protests harming the public are undesirable.

Speaking to reporters at the Election Building on Tuesday (Sept 16), Akhtar Ahmed said, “We are the children of this country. If there is anger, it can and should be resolved through discussion.”

Regarding the issue, he added that the Deputy Commissioner of Faridpur had submitted a letter yesterday, stating that the demarcation has been finalized. “A writ has also been filed in the court regarding this boundary. We should wait for the court to settle it,” he noted.

Akhtar Ahmed acknowledged that public concern over the parliamentary constituency demarcation in the district is undeniable. On September 4, the EC published the final list of demarcation of 300 constituencies through the gazette. In this list, Algi and Hamirdi unions of Bhanga Upazila were transferred from Faridpur-4 to Faridpur-2 constituency, prompting local residents to hold various programs in protest.
