Dhaka, Sep 11 (V7N) – The Dhaka University Central Students’ Union (DUCSU) and Hall Parliament elections were held peacefully, the Advisory Council reported on Thursday. Shafiqul Alam, Press Secretary to the Chief Advisor, said the council thanked the Home Affairs Advisor for ensuring the smooth conduct of the elections.
At a briefing at the Foreign Service Academy, the Press Secretary stated that the Chief Advisor emphasized decentralization and strengthening local government. An independent investigation commission has been requested to oversee police activities.
Alam also confirmed that the Bangladesh national football team has safely returned from Nepal, and the welfare of Bangladeshis in Nepal remains stable.
On education, discussions focused on improving the quality of medical colleges, with 51 reforms already implemented and 246 under implementation. The advisors continue working on various initiatives, including in the NBR and banking sectors.
Additionally, tax exemptions have been granted to seagoing ships with capacities up to 5,000 deadweight tons. The Foreign Advisor will attend a conference on the genocide against the Palestinian people and will participate in the OIC meeting on September 15.
