Dhaka, Aug 28 (V7N) – Railways Advisor Muhammad Fauzul Kabir Khan has expressed regret over the clash between police and engineering students, calling the incident “unexpected.” He said the police would also express regret for their role in the confrontation.
He made the remarks following a meeting with engineering students on Wednesday evening, where Environment Advisor Syeda Rizwana Hasan was also present.
“The students’ demands are related to jobs and the recruitment process. A final decision will be taken after discussions with all stakeholders tomorrow (Thursday). Our doors are open for students, and communication with them will continue,” Fauzul Kabir said.
However, the advisor stressed that while demands can be raised and discussed, blocking Shahbagh and marching towards Jamuna cannot be considered acceptable.
Meanwhile, students expressed frustration at the lack of resolution after the nearly hour-long meeting. Protesters at Shahbagh announced they would not leave the streets until their demands are met.
